The Ugly Duck family has been serving up its original Texas-Style BBQ and southern hospitality to the Greater Houston Area since April of 2016. Founded by local Houstonian and Oak Forester, Sean Steen, after his layoff from the oil industry and co-owned by brother, Karl Steen and fellow layoff victim, Adam Carey, Ugly Duck BBQ has grown from a pit and a dream, just one year ago, to a full-on catering company and soon-to-be restaurant – a true exemplification of the Ugly Duck name.

Now serving over 20 Houston Area companies including cPanel, Apache Corp., Cabot Oil & Gas, Kinder Morgan, Entrust Energy, and many great Houston families, they recognize the importance of taking care of their customers and pride themselves in exceeding expectations in both service and food.

OUR PROCESS

All of our meats are slow smoked for up to 18 hours in our 30 year old seasoned pit using a unique wood mixture, original rubs and recipes, and unmatched passion for great BBQ.

Making the Cut

We believe that producing a quality product starts with quality ingredients. All of our meats are hand-picked and hand-trimmed to ensure quality in every bite. We serve only U.S.D.A. Prime Black Angus Beef.

Every part of our 18 hour cooking process can make or break the final product. The wood you use and how much smoke you make are no exception.

We use a unique mixture of Mesquite, Post Oak, and Pecan woods to achieve achieve our signature smokey flavor that’s never over smoked.
